Become a Word Sleuth: James W. Pennebaker’s The Secret Life of Pronouns (2017 Reading Book #52)

I absolutely loved this book and enjoyed sharing all the information I learned with my parents while I was reading it. The book examines how the function words (pronouns, articles, prepositions, etc.) we use can reveal a lot about our personality and status within different relationships. From plays to politics to dating websites to so much more, it reveals so much in an easy to understand way.

It was also really fun to see what I learned occur in real life by listening to conversations. I know this information will stick with me for a long time and will definitely continue to inform how I see the world and understand how we communicate with each other. While anyone could probably find something of interest and intrigue, I highly recommend this to anyone who likes psychology, linguistics, and/or writing.
