John B. Judis’ The Populist Explosion (2017 Reading Book #149)

This was the last of the books from the Reasons Why Trump Got Elected Reading List. That might be why I didn’t get much out of this book. At some point in reading through all of these books, I started to feel like I was getting the same information over and over again.

In regard to this book, I never felt like I got a real definition of “populism.” I also felt like the political history in this book was redundant to some of what I’ve read in previous books. Likewise, this history was much briefer and seemed to skim the surface while other books I’ve read really delved in. I also wasn’t interested in reading the international aspect of populism and sort of ended up skimming that part.

In my opinion, I think there are books that give much better insight into how we got to this current political situation.
