Robin Benway’s Far From the Tree (2017 Reading Book #158)

This was the perfect book to cap off my 2017 reading. In my own life, my mom connected with her biological mother and found out she had LOTS of biological relatives after being adopted at birth over sixty years ago. Benway’s novel focuses on three bio siblings who meet and support each other as they grapple with their own struggles related to their identities and families. It is an absolutely heartwarming and heartwrenching story. I totally understand why it won the National Book Award for YA this year.

I’ve already passed this book along to my mother and I might recommend it to some of my newly found bio relatives. It’s a really wonderful book and all of its success is so well deserved.
