This evening I switched the music in my car’s CD player to The Maine’s Forever Halloween as the weather is really starting to feel like fall and it’s almost October, so this felt like the right thing to be listening to. I’ve always loved the opening track and found is easy to start singing along to. It was until later this evening when I gave the lyrics a look over that I realized how much it vaguely echoed my novella/ the ideas I have for my novella.
Biblical references, children, celebrities, “you and me’ll start a war,” etc. Plus, the title and reoccurring lyric “Take what you can carry” really works with a lot of the burdens/ responsibilities I’m planning on incorporating: family, relationships, children, illness, etc.
That being said, I think I might title my novella Take What You Can Carry.
Give the song a listen and let me know what you think?
